At the age of 72 one of the pioneers of drag racing, Jim Nelson, sat down trackside at the Carlsbad Raceway to tell his tale. Jim reminisces about the early days of building cars and chassis for such famous drag racers as: Roland Leong, Danny Ongais, Pete Robinson, and Mickey Thompson.

America's Finest Drag Racing takes viewers through the often extreme and experimental times running cars at the El Mirage Dry Lake. Jim reveals the never before told story of his exciting career all the way up until his retirement.

The riveting tale does not end there. Jim Nelson tours the former Carlsbad Raceway, and grabs interviews with some of the local drag racing legends.  Burnouts, drag races, adrenaline, combined with the tale of beginnings and endings of people and tracks, are what are in store for the viewers of America's Finest Drag Racing.
